If your bike or dragster has a steep powerband then clutching in to spin the motor up into the meat of its power band while feeding the most power with the clutch give the most rapid acceleration.
IN pro-stock days you took it up to 10,000 rpm and launched with a feathered clutch. Then bang the air shift so its still spinning in it power band.
Also please note for you launch fans most TACHOMETERS are damped and react slower then first gear so short shift the 1-2 shift as the motor is really screaming past power peak. MIght even happen in 2-3 shift. |
