I just cooked up some of them there johnsoville Bratwursts with some beer and saurkraut.

Not sure if i dig them over hot dogs or not. All this hype on Waaf about brat worship. I figured i'd try em.

    Bratwurst vs. Hotdogs?

+1 on grilling the brats. They are far better than hot dogs. Especially the Johnsonville Brats !!!!!!!!

    Bratwurst vs. Hotdogs?

just grilled some up yesterday. let e'm sit in some beer for a few hours and cook over low heat. if the heat is too high, you just end up burning the outsides.

    Bratwurst vs. Hotdogs?

    1.

two large white onions, fresh, not storage, cut into strips
a head of garlic, peeled and chopped rough
    package of brats
    salt
    pepper
2 bottles of ale, the hoppier the better for KB (malty isn't good for this dish, too much sugar with the onions in there)

    2.

Simmer them in the mix for about half an hour till they are par cooked

    3.

HIGH heat on the grill to carmalize the remaining juices. Let'em rest covered for about 10 minutes. Drain the beah out of the mixture until you just have delicious onions and garlic and put it on top of the brats in some crusty rolls with spicey brown mustard. Thank me later.

I enjoy both. Brats and hotdogs are not related. Both foods I love. Instead of a standard hotdog in competition with a brat, use a knockwurst. It has a similar makeup of a hotdog with a little more garlic and a LOT larger. Delicious grilled up with some potato pancakes and brown porter mustard.

    mmmm brats.

boil them in beer.... grill them on low heat... then a nice added touch is to simmer them in the reduced beer and onion mixture that Iglu is talking about.
