That, I think, was the great lesson of Perot. And it scared the hell out of the Rep's / Dem's as to how well he actully did. Hence, they have made sure it never happens again. A very telling moment about this was a few years ago when Nader and Buchanan joined forced to both complaining that the Dem's / Rep's only allowed public debate to fall within a certain spectrum of ideology. It's not often that to see a well know lefty and a well know righty coming together to bash the "center"...and I think they were spot on with that issue.
