My co-worker is 27, he has been here since he's 3. His parents came over from Cambodia when being alive was going out of style. He has been trying his whole life to get citizenship but hasn't been able to since he has no birth certificate. So he remains in "political asylum" indefinitely. The twit at immigration also decided to "give" him a different name when he got off the boat too. "My name is X". "Oh well, welcome to the US, I think instead we will call you Y, cause I feel like it!" So he constantly deals with that too.

Of course he is otherwise 100% assimilated but it seems like everyone on the legal track has some crazy story about how the government has made their life miserable.
I hear a lot of that...it's a damn shame. This is almost as big of a problem as border security...both need to be fixed....and soon
