I envy those that can do that, which is why I think V is approaching it wrong. We see both my wife's family and mine on a very regular basis, so seeing them on a holiday is just another visit. Yet year after year, we find ourselves packing the kids up and driving an hour each way to go visit everyone and make pigs outta ourselves. I don't necessarily dislike doing it. Just that I envy those folk (like you & V) that get a relaxing day at home without many expectations...
If it weren't for Big Shirl's & my 324 year old grandmothers, we'd seriously reconsider our Thanksgiving plans...
