Yes, I would. I might not necessarily believe a word he is saying, and I might keep my guard up, but I'm not going to turn away a freindly gesture.
You give positive reinforcement for good behavior, no matter how ill-gotten it might be, because it sets the stage for more positive negotiations in the future. If we just keep ignoring him, we *know* things aren't going to improve; if we talk with him, there is at least a chance.
