Maine woman leaves Rochester court after being asked for breath test

ROCHESTER — A Maine woman appearing in court to stand trial on a driving while intoxicated charge last week left the court after she was asked to submit to a breath test while she was filing out intent to plead guilty paperwork, according to a court official.
Court Security Officer John Cook said 51-year-old Jane Perry of 380 Maguire Road in Kennebunk entered Rochester District Court shortly after 9 a.m. Cook said the woman spoke with a Middleton police officer and took a sheet and clipboard to fill out an intent to plead guilty form.
While she was filling out the form, she was asked to submit to a breath test, to which she agreed. However, Perry allegedly walked out of the courtroom, clipboard in hand, before Rochester police arrived with the test. Because she left the courthouse a bench warrant was issued for Perry's arrest on a charge of failure to appear.
Perry's DWI charge originated from a traffic stop in May, when she was allegedly driving while intoxicated on Route 153 in Middleton.  |
