I've used a carrier with my various sport bikes for four years and never had an issue. I think the biggest concern is whether the truck can take the torque/weight placed on the hitch insert. I drive a Chevy Trailblazer and never had a problem. With a bigger truck or suv that shouldn't be a problem. As for stability, the carrier I have is incredibly stable on the road...surprisingly so.
