Maybe this is why my 2-stroke 650cc jetski is running like crap recently. I've had to continually retune the carb over and over since I started riding it this spring.

I know there is already a thread about it but the station in Waitsfield, VT has zero ethanol premium. I stopped today and ave my baby a drink of 91 octane zero ethanol kool-aid.

100 south of there is a pretty fun ride too!

Quite a few stations now have non-ethanol premium. I wish they'd get non-ethanol regular too.

GO-GO in Essex is back to having non-ethanol premium. Which is nice b/c it's right by my house and really the only place I fill up.

Haven't seen anything in NE CT with non-ethanol, but small engine shops sell it in cans. Pretty pricy, though.

Sta-bil marine formula is said to take care of ethanol.

I hear of people getting ethanol free gas at marinas because boaters HATE it. this was from people in other parts of the country but would be nice to find something around here.

Non-ethanol gas (in all grades) has actually become increasingly common in the South because there's so much more motorsports influence down there. But here in politically-correct New England, we're fairly screwed.

The marine is formulated for ethanol along with the orange and this stuff called "star-brite" by star tron was the original ethanol treatment.

We need a NASCAR racer in congress. None of those lawmakers have a friggin clue what ethanol is about. Of course none of them own a lawn-mower or any sort of power equipment, so they won't find out, either.

Actually, Peter Welch is trying to tackle the issue (to my considerable surprise). He's co-sponsored legislation to repeal ethanol subsidies, part of the point of which (beyond saving the federal government a lot of money) is freeing up the market to make non-ethanol gas more widely available.

From what I've read so far, they have no intentions of removing ethanol. Just stopping subsidies. They will probably make it a law that gas must contain 10% or something so that the farmers won't cry. Oh yea, and gas $$ will go up.

Read the article all the way through. Part of Welch's intention is that by freeing the market, non-ethanol gas will become more prevalent.

2 different threads and I'm just learning of this Startron today.
I think it was Rider magazine that a write up stated that the government is going to bring the level of ethanol up to 15%. Most vehicles are exempt from having to run it but what the hell does one do if that is all they are selling. Apparently most engines will not efficiently/effectively run on 15% crap. Anyone else heard of this?

My read on this is that it is the Ethanol lobby's wet dream. I hope to hell it doesn't happen. But it wouldn't be the first time I've been let down by my government's decisions.

I think E10 is pushing it and E15 will make for some very angry consumers. Right now E10 pisses off the powersport and boating nuts. (ie us) But we aren't the masses. I think E15 will have a real impact on your average camcord, and that'll piss off the herd.

The government approved E15 for use ONLY in MY2007 and newer cars and trucks. They specifically excluded small engines and cars/trucks older than 2007.

In other words, very few stations are going to bother to carry it since the majority of vehicles on the road today can't use it.

I'm not familiar with what choices the station owners have over what they can sell compared to what they are forced to push to us. The whole 07 MY made me scratch my head and wonder why any station would want to sell E15 if consumers can go across the street and not have to deal with it. I'll be paying more attention for sure.

    Dear Peasants

The government works by political contribution. The ethanol lobby along with the tree huggers paid off most of the politicians. Until there is a citizen's pac with MORE money you will not have any representation.

    BOT

I was happy to get real gas the other day in Waitsfield, VT 2 miles north of 17 and 100. With 60% real gas I had high hopes. 2 lane plus dirt my mileage went down like 8% Oh Well

More Ethanol-free places popping up (in VT). NY and Maine have practically nothing.

For those of you that don't know...

I'm filling my 5gal for winterization on the next trip I make through the islands or Milton.

    EDIT: All 91. But still.

All those stations listed are in western NY. The 100 mi band from Canton to Rouse's Point to NYC has nothing. Also, per sq mi, VT has a lot more than NY.

    NY-.00044 stations per sq mi
    VT-.0019 stations per sq mi

Or... VT has 4 times as many... per sq mi.

So yes, as far as I'm concerned, NY has practically nothing.

I do agree that NY has more than nothing.
