Lowering 03 CBR 600RR

Hey PK!! i need some advice...

I just bought an 03 Honda CBR 600RR and i am only 5'5. I have read about lowering links etc. and hear different opinions regarding handling and whatnot. I definitely would feel much more comfortable with the bike lowered maybe 3".

I have also heard that you can play around with the actual suspension without adding links. Is this possible and if so, how easy and safe is it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
