For the second follow the leader session I only had one other bike with me behind our instructor, not a bad ratio if you ask me. I think what made the track feel more crowded was the wide range of skill levels, and more importantly confidence levels. I'm used to bikes being on all sides of me with big differences in closing speeds, so when I inevitably got blasted past it wasn't a big deal. Others who have never dealt with that on the street got a little shook up by it, and in some cases ended up riding even more conservatively as a result. Because of this, there was almost always traffic. That said, the track never felt crowded to me.
