several years ago, I needed to dig a test hole and we had to get the backhoe across a 10ft wide penstock canal , the operator scooped a bucket of dirt and extended his hoe to take the weight off the front wheels, then drove across till the rear wheels were adjacent to the penstock and the front bucket was across, then the operator picked the machine up with the hoe and skidded the machine across on the front bucket the whole proceedure took him less than 2 minutes then on the way back out, he repeated the proceedure
