I find it so funny the kind of shit people will come up with, about crossing the Canadian border. Again, I will say it, as of now, what you need when crossing is: a valid drivers license and "preferably" also your birth certificate. You do not need anything else, you do not need a passport YET (they have an extension, but you will need it eventually). If it makes you feel better, bring other forms of ID's, such as social security card, some ID with picture, maybe even a bill or paycheck stub for proof of address and being employed. My mom had brought all of this with her to cross here to come and visit me (I went to pick her up, so I was the driver) the border officer didn't even want to see all that stuff, only looked at her drivers license.
Point is, when crossing the border, smile, be polite and be courteous, even if they piss the hell out of you (yeah some of them are PRICKS), DON'T LIE (don't try crossing stuff you know you're not supposed to), and have those two documents with you (drivers license, birth cert.), just collaborate and you should be fine.
I am 100% canadian, cross the borders regularly, so ask me how I know...Oh and lastly...enjoy your stay and have FUN!!!
