All very good points scottie. Im sure my better than average mileage is helped by that I am very good at maintaining speed once going. God do I hate those people on the highway whop are constantly speeding up/ slowing down and pacing you when you pass them. You also hit the nail on the head as what I was referring to as efficiency curve. Select the gearing to get the engine at its peak efficiency while cruising on the highway. I think 30yrs ago it may have been for 55mph but not now.


I am also not buying a smart for fuel mileage. Its only OK to marginal IMO for such a small car. Like I said Im a sucker for tiny rear wheel drive cars. This happens to be one thats much safer than any of the other ones out there too.
