used to have a prairie just like that. friggen beast! solid rear axle makes the ride rough but it handles fast trail rides better.

Its a good thing I brought My flat bed bike trailer with me, it definately wouldn't fit in the bed of the dakota and I had to take the plow off to get it to fit on the trailer, the ramp gate had about 1/2" to spare .

Jay do you know if you need NH reg to go on frozen lakes ? as its considered "off road" I know in mass that you have to have the atv registered to go on a lake, we found that out the hard way with the minis and mister ELE guy .

Technically, yes. But on OUR lake, I don't think you'd hafta worry about it. In the winter, they're far more concerned with the state trails & corridors. If I were to take you to any of the legal winter riding areas, then I'd say get one. But WHEN you come up to just tool around here, I wouldn't spend the money...

Re: 4 wheeler for plow duty?

what used to take over an hour to do on the lawn tractor took all of 15 minutes, I can plow faster and up hill that I couldn't do before .
I should have pulled the trigger on this a long time ago !

after I did the work with it I took the plow off and rode around out back , I still like trail riding much better on 2 wheels . But it works awesome in the snow .

    FINALLY!

I was waiting for the pics to come up. They all look good!

edit: false alarm - no snow

edit 2: are those headlights sufficient for night plowing?

they can't be any worse than the ones on the lawn tractor. plus with all the white on the ground to reflect light you can actually see pretty well at night . plus we have pretty good lights on the house and garage , although the end of the driveway is pretty dim . I suppose if it becomes an issue I can wear my led head lamp . But I haven't had a problem the last 5 years with the tractor.

its got 4x4 high, low , diff locks, hill decent assist, there is a trailer hitch on it , the rear is not independant suspension but that won't matter for what I am using it for , I have dirt bikes for trail riding.

    serious quad there!

I picked up a 2006 Bruin 350... I don't have a big driveway, and learned some cool tricks to not needing a huge machine to do the job when I used my dads ATV/plow set-up...

I also found out when he bought his grizzly 600, that it was still useless once the snow I was pushing was heavier than the traction would allow to push. (the big quads are a bit heavier though). Back in NY, if I waited until there was 10" or more on the ground, and increasing the blade angle didn't work, I would raise the plow part way and take a couple 'fast' passes to blow some of the snow way off to the side. I doubt you'll have any problem with a 700, but I recommend using that blade-up technique to move the snowbanks away from the pavement a bit (displacement wont make a difference if you end up with huge banks on either side and can't move them back...)

we have had a few storms over the years where I am at work for most of the dumping and have no choice but to let it build up until I get home , I tried the plow up on the lawn tractor trick before , tried blade angle and only trying to muve a 1/4 of the blade full , and usually proceeded to get it stuck as it was only 2 wheel drive with turf tires and chains anticipate a I would have to take out the snow blower and make a few passes for a place to push the snow with the plow , but this machine should do the trick in all but the really heavy wet crap . My advantage as well is pushing it fast running it down the hill .

My Kodiak 450 will not go through this stuff. It is just too deep. I tried last night, as I was hoping to break some trail so I could ride the dirt bike. The ATV would go about 8 feet before the tires just spun. I started getting nervous about getting stuck, so I put it away...

did you angle the plow? i never had a problem with mine even in big drift's if i angled the blade first. i did have a 650 and 700 with good tires though.

When we get this much, I usually use the snowblower anyway. Not because I can't move it with the plow, more to try to avoid huge snowbanks that encroach on our parking...

Re: 4 wheeler for plow duty?

to be fair i don't think many plows do well angled or not when its 20"+

i was able to get the truck into the end of the driveway last night but just barely off the road as the show was level with the hood,

I got the 4 wheeler stuck twice and had to dig it out with a shovel

ran the snow blower up and down a few times to clear paths to push the snow into .

had I gone out during the storm rather than wait til the end I may have been able to push it around . I had drifts that were 3 feet + and spots only a few inches deep.
I don;t think you can get a much better equipped 4 wheeler to plow
700cc twin with 26" ITP mud / snow tires .

the snow was just too much

ITP Mudlites SUCK in deep snow. All they do is dig. I got better traction in snow with the cheapo stock tires than I do with these outrageously priced tires. I've heard that running 'em reverse pattern (switch right to left & verse visa) work better but I've never tried it. I call 'em grave diggers...

i had those on my prairie. they were the lightest cheapest mud tire at the time. any v tread type tire will dig and pull you into ruts. they were better than stock imo. the best bang for your buck in atv tires now are zilla's not mudzilla just zilla. i had them on my king quad and they worked well in all situations.
