Re: Almost ready for wood!!!

So it's been almost 6 months sence I've done anything to the house. Everyone said once I moved in, all progress would stop...and boy did it stop quick!!

I got up Saturday morning full of energy but I knew it was going to be baking hot out so I didn't want to do to much. A few things have been bothering me that I never finished...and because I never finished them, have caused even more work.
1st up was to paint my front porch/entry. I basically just threw the thing together at the time and walked away from it. Some of the wood was pre-primed, some pressure treated, and some exposed redwood from cuts that I never primed. The pressure treated stuff warped and splintered..and had some pretty big cracks, the primer on the pre primed wood was chaulky and the exposed redwood was mildew/black.
Lots of sanding, priming and chaulking and I was able to start painting by 2pm yesterday. I got 1 coat on everything yesterday, and was able to second coat everything today. I'm not 100% happy so I'm going to add another coat tomorrow after work. Oh and I'm still missing a peice of siding above the door...it gets mentioned almost every time I have company

Once I'm done with the front entry, there are a few other spots on the house trim that need another coat of paint...easy stuff and should only take a couple hours.

2nd project is the deck in the back. I was supposed to seal/stain it as soon as the wood dried and seasoned a bit... well it's dry alright!! I need to powerwash it, replace a couple boards and put 2 or 3 coats of quality stain on it. At this point, I'm even thinking about shit canning the wood railing and replace it with white vinyl/composite. We'll see though.

3rd project is to paint the basement doors. I put commercial steel doors in and never painted them and a couple spots have a small bit of rust on them. I've got the paint and have had it sence last October..it's just one of those things....

That will complete the outside 100%.
The list for the inside is quite a bit longer but I'm saving that for when the snow flies
