    painting exhaust

What is a good product for painting a four into one exhaust flat black? Interested in a paint that is highly heat resistant, and won't flake near the engine, whereit is obviously the hottest...

How long does the grill paint last when it's hot and gets a little water ?

I've had good luck with cheap barbecue black also. It is cheap enough that once thorough paint job has been done, every few months I'd cover the engine with a piece cardboard placed in back of the pipes and touch them up right on the bike. Sleazy I know, but it worked just fine. Oh yeah if you do it that way watch your overspray.

    Re: painting exhaust

Painting a can... you can get away with the BBQ paint like others have said.

Painting headers...No way I don't care what paint you use, or how you prep it, the heat is just to much.

You could consider Header wrap for headers and comes in many colors. usually lasts a couple years no problem.

Ceramic is by far the best choice and will last the longest.

    Good Luck

    Re: painting exhaust

I agree with Eric on this one, headers will make the metal alot hotter than the can.... I tried paint with my first Buell, and it didn't last longer than a couple of weeks without flaking off. I have wrapped the exhaust and it looks good and will last alot longer than paint.
