Well. Another day. Another ticket. Third ticket in three days, at two different spots. Today it was the fiduciary trust building. The guard there said he talked to the maid, who told him her supervisor told her to do it. Every bike there got a ticket, and mine had a cover on it. So, apparently the parking clerk office officially has a huge bug up their ass about motorcycle. Guess that's what we get for finally getting metered motorcycle parking.

Today they ticketed everyone at international place. This is getting crazy.

Are they allowed to lift covers? I was under the impression they could not.

These folks administer parking in Boston. Keep in mind that Boston learned from San Franscisco they could raise a lot of money from parking fines. Transportation | City of Boston

This has been coming for a long time, but it's due more to scooters than motorcycles IMHO. I think you might get some action if you complain to BTD that you are trying to be "green" by riding a motorcycle but there is no on-street parking and most of the local garages won't accept motorcycles. So there is literally no place for you to park. But no dount someone somewhere complained. The spotlight will swing away eventually.

    Are they $25 or $40?

    Re: Boston motorcycle parking...

We parked on sidewalks in SF and no tickets. The only place I could find to park in Boston that didn't end up with a ticket was in the loading dock of my office building behind the dumpster. I had to warm up the security people and property management company suit wearers for a couple of weeks for that one. Boston motorcycle parking is the worst.

That's right around the corner from me - I am at 230 congress. I was parking in the alley on gridley next to my loading dock, but the meter maids put an end to that. Does your building allow a bunch of bikes back there or just yours?

I wouldn't know, I have only gotten ridiculous ones like sidewalk $65 or handicapped $120.

I was at a local scooter dealer today getting my bike inspected. He said the city has been cracking down hard on scooters lately.

I park on South Street every day, along with about 10 other bikes now that the weather is nice. The only time anyone ever gets a ticket is if they're too close to a hydrant.

Just piggy-back on a metered spot at the end of a block, or where there's an opening for a hydrant.

How do you crack down on scooters when they have no plates? Have they just been towing them?

Ouch... so do you now have the same woes as the big bikes? I still see scooters locked to lights or whatever on sidewalks all the time.

I haven't worked in 260 for almost two years. Remember a white DRZ400sm? That was me. You don't have a bonneville do you?

Dude with a bonnie used to park back there with me.

It's worth a try - I don't know anyone there anymore. There is an alley that leads to the dumpster, give it a try.

Better plan would be to go inside and chat up the building's management company, it's a nice old(er) lady. Bonus, she has a hottie secretary too.

I didn't realized the parking problem in Boston for bikes. Been riding in to work for a little over a year and my company has a lot to park motorcycles. Guess I've been lucky. I got my first bike so I don't have to commute on the MBTA.

Y'all know about this app? CurbNinja - Find & Tag Motorbike Parking Spots

From their site: "With our simple app, motorbikers can find free & paid parking nearby and share new spots with the community. We also display all the motorbike-friendly businesses nearby. Get it today, FREE!"

It's only for iPhones at the moment, but I hear (from another forum) that there's an Android version in the works. Unfortunately for me, I'm on a Windows Phone

"Official" launches include only a few cities, (San Francisco, San Jose, San Diego, Sacramento, Las Vegas and Seattle), but it's a community-based app, so theoretically, y'all could get it going for the Boston area - which would be great to have by the time I move to Boston in 2016

    Re: Boston motorcycle parking...

Oh wow... this is a topic that hits a real nerve with me. I can't stand parking any of my bikes in Boston. My current girlfriend lives up in Brighton two miles north of Fenway Park and I'm a nervous wreck anytime I park it up there or anyplace else within the city. Not to mention that the streets are pot-hole littered mess with awkward diagonal trolley crossings all over the place and uneven sunken-in road surfaces at the stop lights of most major intersections, particularly the ones at off ramps from Storrow drive.

I don't know how people can live in the city and actually enjoy it. Aside from the fact that there are are an ungodly amount of smokin hot women there and there are usually some form of restaurants open at almost any time of any day, I hate almost everything else about big city life. Sorry for the rant... Haha.

Do you guys use the HOV lane on your way in on your bikes? It seems like that's a big gamble since you have no escape routes if there is an accident or traffic in that thing.
