Need some opinions on an '01 Cbr 600 F4i

    Sup fellas,

    Happy holidays etc.

I have a lead on a 2001 F4i for short money. The bike was well maintained, it has a giant sprocket on it in which id rather use for a death frisby than ride with (it WILL be replaced if i get the bike). It has 11k on the clock, and has been slightly streetfightered out (front fascia has the whole shortened ghost rider deal).

How well do the F4i's ride, and will this be a good enough starter bike for me at the track. I have 0 experience, and I don't really know what there is for tech if I was to join in on a track day (if slightly modified to modified bikes are concerned).

Ive ridden Yamaha 600s forever and Ive heard some people rant about the F4i not really having that much of a sack. Opinions from Honda riders?

    Thanks a bunch dudes

streetfightered out + huge rear sprocket means its been stunted

stunted bike for cheap money.... sounds like a beat up hunk of crap to me that I would never want to push it's limits on the track.

but hey, thats just my opinion

    other than that hondas ftw

ya its been stunted, probably beat the christ out of. it has a new clutch and it runs fairly well, which means I can ride the hell out of it next spring/summer.

    probably a bad idea huh

I'm sure the forks are mint on that thing I have never ridden one but see plenty of them doing trackdays and raced.

f4i's are solid. If it runs well, rides straight... why not. where is the bike ? How much?

Jim,im not sure changing the rear would matter.if the speedo sensor is on the front, the front sprocket should spin at the same speed regardless of how big or small the the rear is.

exactly. i'm not sure where the speedo sensor is on those bikes. i assumed like the GSX-R, it's on the front sprocket (which would make the odometer inaccurate).

regardless, that stunt bike probably isnt worth your troubles. the forks and triples could be bent & the shock would need service.

Yeah, but the rear wheel will change the speed that it spins in relation to the output shaft of the transmission.

    Jim's right?

I've never seen a straight stunt bike in my life with as many times as they hit the ground. Unless its like $300, I'd pass.

    Love my Honda!!

Unless the speed sensor is on the front wheel, changing the rear sprocket will of course alter odometer reading.

you need to count how often the front wheel of a stunt bike is in the air then

okay. so the odo reading isn't likely to be correct. next?

what's the seller asking? and just because it has a huge sprocket and no fairing doesn't mean its been stunted all hardcore. if there is one thing i've learned, its: there's alot of fucking posers out there.

use your best judgment. its your hard earned $.

It's not that they don't have sack, you just gotta keep the motor spinning in order to move the chassis along effectively.

As far as rider feedback, I love my F4i but the people who have ridden it don't share the same sentiment.

Re: Need some opinions on an '01 Cbr 600 F4i

sup fellas, thanks for the advice. I thought about it for a while after reading all the comments, and if I want a decent bike to jam around on I'd rather it wasn't beaten to death. Ya'll know how most of the stunt bikes are, they get squidishly pinged off the limiter half their life and dumped more often than not.

I've decided to go old school.

The F4i was spontaneous addition to a bike conversation I was having with a buddy, and after I took my ADD meds I started thinking clearly again.

1500 isn't bad if its rideable.1000 woulda been worth the risk.

I agree because you coulda parted it out. There's a guy on here who's always looking for good F4i parts on the cheap!
