    Line-X Paint Job?

I saw a Range Rover the other day with a full Line-X paint job on the body.

Since moving to the desert, my beautiful black car now has tons of little scratches all over it, not to mention the bumper being fucked up from the dogs jumping in and out.

Anyone have experience with this or done it? I'm thinking it can't be much more than a quality paint job at a body shop, so I can't see why not. Thoughts?

just know it's not going to be a nice flat "looking" paint job. it i what it is. Rhino/line-x spray job.
I was/ still thinking the same on my jeep. probably just going with a flat black tho.

I actually want that. We have a Line-X bed liner in our Dodge 2500 and I love the textured look. I even saw that they have colors now and the red and blue look pretty sick.

Right? I plan on driving it until it dies (which from what cab drivers that run them constantly tell me is close to 500k miles) so I don't care about the resale value.

The textured paint will KILL your fuel economy.

Lol...I know this is just to be funny, but I bet it won't! I mean, a golf ball is textured for aerodynamics

Didn't mythbuster prove that actually helped fuel economy?

It's not the aero impact, it's the weight.

I read this a few times in my searches and the consensus amongst those that did it was that there was little difference.

    But I mean...its a Prius. Even if I lose 5mpg, I'm still over 40

    Re: Line-X Paint Job?

I think the mud spattered car had less mpg. The golfball one had more. Yeah OJ, 40 is great no matter what it looks like.

definitely do it...it'll help your resale value since the next buyer can save the trouble of line-x'ing the body after buying it, and carrying stuff on the outside of the car won't come close to scratching it

or I'm not sure if this a joke or not

so if you're srs, and you don't care about what it looks like for resale value, then how is a line X'd car any more advantageous than a regular prius with scratches?

I don't care about resale value... I DO care about how the car looks... and I think Line-X looks badass. I figure if I can do it for around the same cost as a regular paint job it will save me the headache and frustration of the dogs and desert fucking it up again.

Do you really think the slight texture of the liner will effect aerodynamics that much? More so than having dead bugs all over it?

Not sure about that texture since it is so random.

Golf ball style dimples? That should increase the MPG over stock.

Give the Mythbusters episode a watch where they ran a standard Taurus, then covered it in dimples and tried again. The result was quite surprising.

my fav thing about the roll on over the professional job is that when i run over baby carriages and motorcycles and gouge it up i can fix it with a paint brush

So its like carrying one extra passenger? I don't really see that impacting gas mileage.
