That would be a very piecemeal lawnmowing job, seeing as I can only hobble along 20 or 30 feet with a walker before I'm so exhausted I have to sit down...

Well between the two of us we could probably get it finished just in time to have to start mowing again

Awesome news...that's excellent progress. I think we should have a small cheerleading section to keep whoever is mowing the lawn motivated & inspired.

Thanks, Ken. The good news is that I'm making significant daily progress, and I can do stuff now that I wasn't even considering a few days ago. Hopefully my recovery will continue at this pace.

I'm really hoping to be able to get out for a few rides before the snow flies, but time will tell. The number 1 priority right now is to let the femur heal and muscles recondition so I can walk again.

For those who haven't seen these yet...

    My busted femur:

    Repaired, proximal end:

    Repaired, distal end:

I won't be able to put any weight on it for another month at least. Ugh.

In Vermont is that metal or Maple?

    Have fun at the airports

Your old Strom brothers had a good time over last weekend. There was 13 including the fabulous Randyo car tire and all. Did all the gaps ran into a Harley Ride for Giffords Hospital in Randolph. They motored the length of 100 at 5 miles an hour up to the base of Mad River. I routed us around them. Lincoln Gap has been paved on the eastern side its like a go kart tract now. There are dirt sections but near the top fresh pavement. The ride was 310 and took all day including lunch in Stowe. Everyone said they had a good time.

Well feel better and do your PT

Yes -- got discharged at 11 today. Now ensconced at Keith's house, since my apartment is too handicapped-unfriendly for me to live in yet.

    Thanks Doc, it's much appreciated!

Yeah, every time I see that x-ray, I think either "holy shit!" or "fuuuuuck...!" And that's after having already seen it many times.

I really wish I knew the exact dynamics of this crash. But I can only assume that the femur was the result of direct impact by the SUV's bumper.

If, once you're feeling better, you need to get away and get back on a motored vehicle, we have a handi-friendly guest house and some quads here in Tucson, even an automatic. Might be good for the soul

Thanks so much for the offer! That would be fun as hell, but unfortunately between running out of time off at work and trying to buy a house, time is going to be awfully tight.

I do intend to make it down that way on a motorcycle eventually though.

Yeah, but I think Mark wants tours of the roads, not a tour of Bill's favorite spots to crash

Luckily, I only crash on the track (knock on wood). Maybe by the time I'm un-knocked-up and he's un-laid-up, I can finally get my 650r traded in for a KLR.

We just closed on our house and moved in last night, there are literally hundreds of miles around me of state trust land, dirt toads, utility roads AND I found a pretty fucking SWEET abandoned housing development that was started and had the roads paved but was never built on. I could do track days out there if I wanted to.

I feel your pain. Substitute "my right leg can bear weight" for "this parasite is born" and the statement applies to me perfectly.
