    CBR954 Key...

so I have a 954 that I lost the key to, I have the original key code tag thingy. Can a regular lock smith cut this key or is it a dealer only type key code? From what I've been reading, the US 954s do not have the HISS system?

Don't order from Honda off of the key code. It will take 6-8 weeks for them to materialize, and will cost $75+.

Remove the ignition switch and bring it to a locksmith. They can recreate and cut the key. Usually for about $20 or so.

Not sure how different to key is, but I lost the key to my SV this year. I called a locksmith who met me at the bike and made me 2 keys. Should have been $125, but AAA plus made it only $25. Good luck!

Hm worth a shot. I could take the trunk lock cylinder out and bring it to the locksmith as well.

    Re: CBR954 Key...

If you're talking about the rear seat release, it should be keyed the same as the ignition and gas cap.

I had to do it about once a month back in the dealership days. With 200 motorcycles in the building, lost keys were inevitable.

I lost an only key last year, I brought the ignition cylinder to a locksmith and had it back in 2 hours with 2 new keys for $55. I remember reading somewhere that some seat lock cylinders have fewer wafers than the corresponding ignition cylinders. You may want to confirm that this is not the case for the CBR before you go that route.

This is true... A key made from the ignition cylinder will operate everything. A key made from the seat release cylinder, will not operate the ignition.

the 929 key does not full extend into the rear seat latch as it does with the ignition

    Re: CBR954 Key...

I was going to the same route as you for my fireblade (1994) but.. I found an entire lock set with gas cap for $30 on ebay. It was VERY nice in quality and went in without a hitch. I had to double check the wiring.. I think it was a blue wire for the security thing.. which I didn't have. Saved me the time of finding the locksmith and I got a shiny new set of locks/cylinders and keys.

I SHOULD be able to cut the key based on code. Are you located in Hanover as your zip code suggests? I am in Wilmington (D&D Lock), not too close to you. You could check out Hanover Lock & Safe, or flying locksmiths out of Randolph, those are the only I really know of on the south shore, sorry. Typical double sided code key runs like 20 bucks I think (from us, sorry guys in shop deal with that stuff, I am on the rode all day). Comes with two keys...Any questions, just ask.

I don't mind sending you a box and a shipping label and $ to send me a key. I am in Hanover but I'd rather support a forum member. Hanover Lock was unhelpful when I called and I've yet to hear one good thing about Flying Locksmiths.

So I went to Honda (Bettencourts) a few weeks ago with my code and they cut the key.
Didn't work. Pulled my ignition out yesterday and went there. They cut a key to the code on the ignition and it still didn't work.

    The fuck
