    Tire Vendors

I'm looking for the contact info for any tire vendors at the track this year, mainly Bridgestone, Conti, Michelin or Dunlop. I'm trying to decide what to run this year and would like to dig into some more info. Is this stuff listed anywhere or do I have to find peoples contact info?

    TIA,
    Alex

I don't know if anyone is carrying Conti this year track side. Stu is your Michelin man, but I don't know his contact info.

    *Forgot Pirelli.

Too much on my mind right now. It's crunch time.

And I'm guessing there's no Metzeler or Avon dealer.

    Thanks for the info guys!

    Re: Tire Vendors

    Haha, okay.

Vendors at the track are as stated above.... Steve for Dunlop (North Garages), Stu for Michelin (North Garages), Miles for Bridgestone (between garages) and the best god damn mutha fuckin man of em all, Mike Kurtz for Pirelli (south garages.... Welcome to Motorcycle Tires Gear).

Conti, Metzler and Avon don't have representation at the track (cuz their race rubber sucks )

Hit up the USCRA for info on who they use for Avon and Heidenau. I think either Stu or Miles may have access to Metzler?

    Re: Tire Vendors

Shoot me an email at mike@gomtag.com if you've got some questions about Pirelli. We're set up for LRRS Round 1 Thursday morning, if you're planning to be up there early for practice.

We've found the Pirelli to work pretty well at NHMS. They worked fairly well at NHIS, also.

This year; I'm gonna try and get Pete to help me learn the P gang sign.

I've been on track when racing was going on, with a Kenda Trackmaster 2, that's DOT legal so that makes it a race tire right?

Cue breakdirt showing up with pics of me at Stimilon...

Just curious, what have you used in the past? And why are you searching for 'off' brands? I run Dunlop because they pay contingency and they are the cheapest. They are also on the podium after the big races just about every time. The only downside is that they are slippery when cold, more than other DOTs it seems.

What's an off brand? I wouldn't consider Pirelli, Michelin, Dunlop or Bridgestone as off brands, maybe Conti, but they are big in auto-racing.

I've used Pirelli and Michelin in the past. I liked the Pirelli's feedback, but the Michelin's were cheaper and lighter, and the customer service I got from Michelin back home was outstanding. I'm kind of in the same boat, I'd like something cost effective (price and contingency) but competitive and with good feedback. I've heard horror stories of some tire brands not speaking to you at all until you're on the ground.

I think those horror stories are long gone. I loved Pirelli, formerly ran Dunlops and miss the exit of Conti as they were cheap and lasted forever. Have been quite happy with Bridgestones currently and Miles is your guy at Street 'n Comp.

Are they no longer offering race rubber in the states?

I meant the meztlers and avon. I didn't know if maybe that was the norm somewhere else? Anyway you got the rest of the details about what's there. It's a fairly even mix between dunlop, pirelli and michelin, with a spattering of stones thrown in there. More lightweight guys seem to go with he pirellis and middle weight go with the dunlop. Of course I didn't take a tally of all the racers so it's just an observation.
