    Preload Moving Around?

My friend put a marker on the top of my preload on my Ohlins 30MM cartridge kit. I noticed a couple of nights ago that the bottom marker, on the preload adjuster, had moved about a quarter of a rotation away from the original line he had marked. I haven't made any adjustments on the preload whatsoever since the refresh from Pete @GMD so I don't know why this has happened.

It also happened to his bike, which is why he also marked mine (we run the same fork setup.) Does anyone know why this occurred? I have done two race weekends so far and can only attribute to vibrations moving it (if that even makes sense.) Any info would be great

I bet it's the preload knomes.

    1 - Mess with Jason's Preload
    2 - ???
    3 - Profit

LONG SHOT, but I'm wondering if there was some rotational tension in the spring when you adjusted it and as you rode, the spring released the tension, turning the adjuster a little....... Highly doubt it though.

I've seen this as well on my bike with the 30mm kit but only on the compression leg. also still searching for an answer.

I didnt have mine marked so i only found it at the end of the track season during service. It had backed out from 8 turns of preload to 3! over the course of the year.

one theory is the is a rotational force when compressing the spring and it overcomes the friction of the oring/seal the adjuster passes through.

i now check it after every session on the track

I think both of these may be valid as to why it might have happened. Problem is I have no clue what my preload after setup was set too and whether or not my comp leg was changed since it wasn't marked. Guess I need to make a few phone calls and get the specs again. Thankfully found this out before anything major happened.

Try asking Pete @GMD? Sounds like something he would have seen before.
