    How's a Busa for riding 2-up?

I traded my RC8 for a track bike, so I currently don't have a street bike. I want something I can take on some overnight trips with my wife, and came across this thing. It looks like it should fit the bill. I really don't want to spend more than 7k, would like something with hard bags, and I think I like the idea of a back rest for the passenger. Is there anyone using one of these for sport touring here, and how are these bikes overall?
    Thanks.

this is the bike. the price seems a little high to me, but then again I never gave one of these a second thought and have no idea what they sell for. 99 Suzuki Hayabusa GSX-1300R

I have been looking at different bikes for 2up riding for a few years, so I'll throw my 2 cents in. I ended up with a 2009 Yamaha Fz1, if I were to do it over I would not buy another Fz1, it's too limited from the factory in both power and suspension. I would be looking at a BMW 1200S or 1300s, boat loads of power and come with hard bags, second and third possibly a FJR and Concours.

Also I would not pay that much cash for a 99' Busa.

Check cost of K bike clutch replacement. Be sitting down.

    $7,000 you are in V-Strom 1000 territory.

I'd say FJR for two up. Plenty of power, very reliable, suspension is a little soft though but easily fixable. Rear seating is ample especially if your passenger isn't too large. My wife is 6' and was ok for shorter rides on mine.

    Re: How's a Busa for riding 2-up?

Been on the Busa since 2001, ridden 200,000 plus miles between the 4 of them.

Looks like a good choice, 1999, 2000 model years are the factory unrestricted one, which are the very desireable in the Busa community.

Weak points on that model year is , the starter clutch recall/ defect .

If you are serious about purchase , check to see that second gear is in good shape still, that is the well documented 1st major failure on any Busa ridden hard.

Any other questions on Busa's just post up.

    As for 5500 ?

    4500 is where it belongs.

P.S. That sure isn't a factory color on the paint, so check the V.I.N well.

might be a little more expensive but new Ninja 1000's are pretty nice. I've only had mine for a month now but its been good 2 up and the hard bags are awesome.

You can pick up an 08 Concours in the $5k range, sounds like it would fit the bill

07-10 Triumph Tiger 1050 (optional ABS): most have bags, decent two up, good range, sell for $7,000 or less. Pretty tall, not a lot of weather protection, but fairly light.

I guess another would be the latest version of the Bandit 1250.

I have been touring on a Busa for a couple years. Mine is a 99 and is great. Big dopey torque all day long and big passing power. It does not carve like a sportbike but is very comfortable and happy at any speed. I love mine.

OP, tested anything out yet? Once my new knees are working I can entertain some sleeker rides though the Tiger is a keeper.

No haven't tried anything yet. There's a couple multistradas at Valley motorsports that caught my eye.
Might have to say f u to the budget.

A Multistrada wouldn't be saying "fu to the budget". That would be saying fuck you, fuck your mother and fuck three generations back.

    And worth every penny.

Tiger? I rode a speed triple a few years back and loved the engine. This bike seems like a good deal, right?

Bargain price. You can try mine if you like. I looked for one with ABS.

Not ready for something like that yet, rode my friends Harley a few times and just can't get into it.

Likewise. The last couple I rode, agricultural equipment.

Handled marginally better than a John Deere backhoe, and nearly as heavy.

    Re: How's a Busa for riding 2-up?

So I just talked with the guy who has the Tiger for sale that's listed on ebay. He sounds like a good guy, but my only hang up with the bike is the title is not in the sellers name. He says he bought the bike a few months ago, but never registered it, and now he needs to sell a few of his bikes. The title has just been signed by the original owner, and everything else is blank. He says the previous owner is local to him, and aware of what he's doing. The guy just wants a bill of sale after the deal is done. I bought a trailer like this before, and had no problems, but I'm a little more worried about buying a bike this way.

What do you fuckers think? And what should I run for oil if I do get this bike?

    Re: How's a Busa for riding 2-up?

Ask him if you can contact the owner? The price is a grand or two less than what they seem to sell for now.

I'd look up the Ct title laws and/or call the dealer referenced. Guys who do this are usually un [dealer] licensed flippers who do this to avoid paying sales tax. But eBay may give you a little protection.
