    Re: Palmer SV Gearing

i rarely change my gearing. i run 14/44 almost everywhere. VIR i go up a tooth in the front which is really just the stock set up. id probably try that at NJMP as well although i did run it with my usual gearing with no issues

I enjoyed using 6th gear on the front "straight" with my stock 15/45 gearing. Yes, I was passed by bikes with much more power, but the gearing was fine.

I still don't get why you run that 14 tooth front

Wheelies, yo. Also, 44 divided by 14 = pi.

    False. 44 / 14 = 22 / 7 = 3.1428571.

They taught me in 4th grade that this was Pi.

    They fucking lied to me.

I think all schoolchildren should be taught gearing. And computing compression ratio, while we're at it.

And also the Ideal Gas law. When Deflategate first hit I couldn't fucking believe the amount of people who have no idea how basic physics works.

Both static and dynamic compression ratios, and how the CR alone does not determine what octane you need, nor can you determine CR based on a compression test...

This. When it came to building my '69 El Camino small block, I had no idea how much I didn't know. I could get 10.0:1 compression with a thick head gasket and bad squish numbers, or a thin gasket and good squish -- so long as I had the right pistons. And even this is just the static side of the things, I'd need to plug in my cam numbers to get dynamic!
