Batteries.I make 'em last but I guess 6 years is too much stress. I have to buy a couple batteries for the streetbike and the racebike. Recomendations? Cost and convenience are big factors. |

Batteries.I've heard Wal-Mart is the best place to buy one. Just figure out what size you have and note the code on the battery, and they should have it in stock. |

Batteries.Yea I have bought a few batteries at Wal-Mart and they seem to have the best prices. I have also had multiple YUASA batteries and haven't had a problem |

Batteries.Westco, they also have a warehouse in Shrewsbury. Google it, the battery for my FZ1 was wayyyyy cheaper through them. |

Batteries.Walmart - 30$ and they exist all over the continent = easy returns/replacement if need be. ...and unless it's a yuasa, it's probably a Johnson Controls Inc. battery anyways. |

Batteries.Yuasa makes really good batteries. I've never used the Wal Mart batteries, so I can't comment on them. |

Batteries.figured I would put this here rather than start a new topic. while looking into a new batery for the yzf, I was curious if a different rated battery would work and not hurt the charging system.... ie stock battery YTX12-BS *Maintenance-free AGM batery *12 volt 10 Amp Hour *175 Cold Cranking amps *6"L x 3 7/16"W x 5 1/8"H *w-11 Lbs the ones I found for HALF the price or less specs are as follows: Weight 9.5 Volts 12 Amp-Hour 12 CCA 180 Length 5.9375 Width 3.4375 Height 5.125 Weight 9 Volts 12 Amp-Hour 10 CCA 200 Length 5.9 Width 3.5 Height 5.25 any ideas? these alternates are not a "12-bs" series, and I dont want to hurt the bikes electrical system. _________________ |

Batteries. So long as you are using a 12V lead-acid battery, electrically it doesn't matter which one you choose. I would buy the one with the highest amp/hour rating that still fits in the motorcycle. If you get a battery that is physically smaller than your original one, you may have to shim it to keep it from bouncing around if the factory strap isn't adequate. The most important aspect you should be looking at is the location and connector style of the terminals on the battery. Make sure you find one that is similar to the original battery otherwise the cables might not reach! |

Batteries.sweet ! thanks for the info ! the dimensions are almost identical ( within 1/8" all the way around) and the posts are in the same position as the stock. it is a maintenance free sealed battery. whats the biggest difference between a 12 a/h and a 10 a/h battery? ( besudes the 2 a/h difference) is that just the charge rate? |

Batteries.a/h is a measure of the battery's capacity. A 12 a/h battery can deliver 12 amps for 1 hour or 1 amp for 12 hours. Likewise a 10 a/h battery can deliver 10 amps for 1 our or 1 amp for 10 hours. It's not quite that simple but for a general understanding, it works. The higher the amp/hour rating of the battery, the larger reserve you have. All things being equal, I would always take the higher amp/hour battery. |
