Need to remove my front tire - need the damn tool

Anyone in Western MA have the tool to remove an axle from a 2003 636?

It's a 22mm hex, I guess a spark plug remover would do the trick, but I couldn't find one at any of the three stores I went to.

Sears carries nothing that can help, neither does Ace. Valley Motorsports can do the tire install for 70ish I think he said.

Anyways, I'm in Amherst - if anyone can help, please shoot me a PM or post here.

I don't get it. I think every rag from Cycle World to Road Racing World has reported this as a big PITA. I sprung for the $30 and bought one years back...but I've never been able to torque it....It's always been....mmmm feels like 75 ft lbs.

I just grab a kid that weighs 75 lbs, and have him stand on a 1 foot bar....

Sears does carry the tools you need. I bought my sparkplug socket setup from them. Look for a half-inch drive sparkplug socket that has a 13/16" hex head on the drive end. Pull the rubber out and make sure the square drive portion is square on the inside of the socket (some are round). Then get a half-inch ratchet extension to put throught he inside of the socket. 13/16" is approximately 21mm which is more than adequate to loosen up the front axle. Since it uses a normal half-inch drive, you can use a torque wrench to tighten it back up.

I can post a picture when I get home.

If it's anything like my 9R, just leave the pinch bolts tight on the end with the 22mm socket head and loosen them the other end. I think the other end is a 17mm, which is a more readily available tool. Got mine at Ace Hardware.

I've got a 22mm allen... I've seen the reverse spark plug socket setup, but none of the spark plug sockets I found were the right kind.

I was gonna say, if you could ride the bike down, we'll do the work here, but not everyone likes to strap a tire to their back.
