Yea so I finally decided to switch to H.I.D

Bought the 4300K kit from XenonDepot.com for $199 + shipping. I'm not a big fan of riding at night mainly because of lack of light. I thought a H.I.D. upgrade would help improve on the lack of lighting OEM Halogens produce.

Seems like a decent kit. Got good reviews on another forum.

1) Uses a Philips capsule (seems to be the best brand on the market)
2) Kit comes with a relay harness (delays the HID from illuminating when you first start the bike. Prolongs the life of the H.I.D.).
3) Length between the ballast and capsule is 6ft so I can mount the ballast anywhere I want.

I'll post pics of before and after if anyone is interested.

You'll probably love it. I installed a kit on my 1000rr and it's awesome! I need a lower temp bulb, though. The 10000k it came with has too much of a ricer look, though it's still better than the standard H7.

Yea I'm looking forward to it. I decided to go with the highest lumens output with a pure white color so thats why I went with 4300k.

If I had known it was such an easy installation I would have gotten one a long time ago.

I had a 6000k last year, had problem with the ballast just ordered a new kit, going this time around with a 4300k, don't care about the color, looking for the most light as possible, that way there won't be to much of a color difference to the upper light

Mystic, why don't you sell your 10k kit on ebay and then get the one you want. I'm pretty sure 10k is gonna be a purple-ish color. I'm sure some one will snatch it up for a good price.

actually i found a seller on ebay who is cheaper. it is $88 for the set of 2 bulbs and ballasts and everything and 38 from shipping. comes directly from china somewhere.

i bought the kit for an ex's car and it was great and hasnt had any problems.

i know most bikes only take 1 bulb but for 8 more bucks u can have 2 and always have the spare if anything happens to the other.

I dont trust these ebay kits that are that cheap. I kept telling myself you get what you pay for. If it turned out alright for you then I guess it's good.

you can obviously get cheaper kits but they use no name brands probably. It's all personal preference.

If i'm going to be plugging electronics into my bike I want to make sure its not some crap some dude in Asia built in his basement verses the well known brand of Philips.

As far as HID colors/temps, the lower you go the more white the light is, and the brighter.

Once you go above 6k the light output starts to diminish, and it gets to a point when it's no better than standard halogen.

4300 is the best as far as light output goes, with 6000 being as high as I would go (blue/white color). I've run both 4300 and 6000 in cars and I loved both.

4300k should be pure white and the most lumens (light output)

Halogen bulbs are typically between 2800K and 3400K and have a yellowish tint (especially on the lower end of the range). HID bulbs between 4500K and 5500K will give you a nice white light. 6000K and over becomes noticeably blue and eventually transitions to purple.

Thought I'd chime in again and make some comments about the kit I got from XenonDepot.com.

First thing I didn't like was the way they made the relay harness. I ended up shortening one wire, and making another one longer (have to do this in order to mount the ballast in the trunk).

Second thing I didnt like was that the kit didn't come with some kind of spacer for the H7 Capsule. If I were to put the capsule into the headlight fixture, it jiggles around because it's too thin. So my options were to buy an H7 spacer, or make something myself.

Going to try my second attempt at installing it since I got the two problems worked out.

I dunno it depends if I feel like taking the farings off. I HATE putting the farings back on, it's such a pain the F'in ass!!!!

My old CBR I could have the farings on in half the time it takes me on the gixxer.

Yep, I had my fairing off last night and in the process cut up my forearms real nice. Nothing like blood and grease.

It's the one of the few things I hate about the 06s. The biggest pain is the front of the faring where all the hooks have to clamp on, and then you have to make sure the inner faring slides over all the crap and if you bend it too much it pops off. P A I N!!!!
