F4i Racebike help

Here is the deal, Both me and my Friend race 2002 Honda F4I's We both had lowsides over the weekend (left side)

Now both Bikes wont start, The power goes on the Fuel injection does its thing only the starter wont spin. First it clicks and if you hold the starter button it whines and the Indicator lights dim. You feel with your hand the starter trying to Spin and it gots really hot.

Two Bikes Same problem Exactly
Any Ideas?

If it had been the Bank Angle Sensor, it would have corrected itself the next time they put the key in and tried starting it. Also, I dont think there would even be a click noise occurring when pushing the starter if it had been the Bank Angle Sensor. There wouldnt be any noise.. Curious..

Pull the plugs and drain the oil or gas that wept into the cylinders...
or side cover is jamming flywheel (bent)

Ooh, it's terminal. Luckily I have a race motor ready to install for you.

Sounds like hydrolock, but suspicious that it's on BOTH bikes.

If the starter motor is getting hot, remove the plugs (like Mark says) and turn the motor over. Keep your face away from the spark plug holes. More likely oil in the cylinders than gas.

If it isn't hydrolocked, remove all the 8mm bolts from the stator cover and check the starter sprag gear (top right hand side). It might have become dislodged and not be engaging the flywheel.

One of those wasn't hit by say a red GSXR by chance was it? If so that was me... Chassis wise I think I'm okay. Plastic wise, I'm a mess.

I should have something together for this coming weekend. Good luck with the bikes.

Nope we did not need any help Crashing, Pittenger5 (505) Had a faulty Break Lever that caused his brakes to lock up in practice (first 1/2 Lap)

I (441) lowsided In 11 (on the downshift) in the rain in heavyweight SB

By hook or by crook I will be there For Friday Practice

I don't know how the honda tip-over sensors work but I know my old gsxr used a U-shaped piece of metal with a ring in the center of the 'U'. When the bike was tipped over, the ring would slide and open or close the switch (I don't know which). The problem was though that sometimes the ring would get stuck to one side and people had problems getting the bike to start.

Is there a way to see if the bike is throwing a fault code. c23 was the code that pointed to the TOS for the gsxr.

Im with firefly on this one, if it was the bank angle, your starter shouldnt be getting hot or trying to spin.

Hydrolock It seems Will be sure Tomorrow, From doing a search on Google Hydrolock is fairly common on F4is that fall over, And the stunters even have a mod for this. Pittengers bike Was on its side for about 7 Minutes, AND MY bike was completely upsidedown sliding in the grass at turn 11.

If not anybody selling a good racebike Fully preped

And one thing we learned, if your bike is hydrolocked, dont clear the cylinders on your parents driveway. Leaves a lovely pattern.

can't you place a rag or something over the holes so it doesn't spray everywhere?

BTW Daniel, you're wheel is ready. They had a bitch of a time, broke a tool, had to helicoil both of them. $60 total. More than I thought, but not much considering the work they put in.

Does the it sound like the starter is engaging with the engine?

I don't know too much about motorcycle starter systems, but if it's anything like cars it maybe that the pinion solenoid in the starter died.

So, the starter is just spinning the pinion gear but it's not connecting up with anything.

Can you feel the engine trying to turn over or is it just a weak whining noise when you try to start it?
