Recomended headlight

I have a 1994 ZX11 and I think it's time for a new headlight. I can see O.K. with my current headlight, but i know it could be a lot better.

I just did some searches for halogen bulbs and there are a ton out there. I want the brightest clearest light I can find, what do you guys recomend? I do a lot of night riding on narrow dark roads and I don't like to use the highs.

Jim -

I bought a pair of PIAA H7's and only am using one if you want to buy the other one off me. Not sure what size your bike takes though.

I buy my Silverstars from Walmart. They are the cheapest especially if you buy a twin pack. Luckily for me my car takes H4s, my wife's car takes H4s, and my 4 motorcycles take H4s.

This is where you want to get your bulbs:
Bulbs

Most of the stuff on there costs half of the Silverstars, and will last far longer and have more light output. Google search for silverstar problems and you'll see a whole host of them; for the money they are crap. If you can source a set of OSRAM Silverstars then you're talking, the ones we get here are terrible.

I paid $30 for a set of SilvetStars for my Jeep 3 years ago and they're awesome! Just as bright as the first day I installed them.

Is that based off of experience or Intardweb facts? Experience tells me the Sylvania Silverstars are a great bulb. My only gripe is they do burn out a little faster than normal bulbs but night time illumination with them are leaps and bounds better than the OEM bulbs.

I've used the OSRAM Silverstars (intended for European market) before and they were good too but they are much more difficult to get a hold of when you need them. When a bulb dies I run to Wal-Mart and change it right away. I don't wait around for them to show up by mail.

Personal experience and friends. I had a set of Silverstars that crapped out pretty fast, as did a couple of my buddies. The OSRAM's still aren't worth the money, but they're better than the Sylvania.

As I said above, that rallylights place sells great bulbs for cheap.

Please excuse my incompetance. I checked out the rallylights site and I am interested in ordering from there. Thanks for the link.

They offer several options for the H4 style bulb, is the more expensive bulb the best and brightest you can get? I don't want to pay an extra $10 for a bulb that's only slightly better.

Also, do we only have 1 bulb in the headlight?

There is one particular bulb they recommend for motorcycles (at least H4 motorcycles). It should say somewhere on the H4 page. If you're really stuck give them a call, they're very helpful.

H4s are used one per headlight with both high and low beam filaments in the same bulb.

Thanks! Tied the knot in mid February only a couple of weeks after I closed on the house in Candia.

I tend to not post whore about my personal life which is why there was no "look at me I got married" thread here.

I ordered the HID conversion kit from XenonRider.com - Xenon Rider Automotive Xenon & Bi-Xenon HID (High Intensity Discharge) Headlight Conversion Kits for Cars & Motorcycles and There is no comparison to any "regular" bulb that i have found. fairly easy to install (took about 1.5 hours start to finish) and the single bulb hi/low H4 kit was about $140 shipped.
