well... if you can be taught first-hand then do that! ...but the internet is a huuuge resource for maintenance walk-throughs & help. your service manual is probably stashed away on the internet somewhere too. mine is. A 70 meg .pdf file that I've never actually needed. just... go slow and watch your work. dont overtighten things even though you think they can be tightened more. white-out is great for marking hoses & other misc. stuff to keep track of where it goes. |

What are you doing tonight? I'm close (VERY), have any and all tools you will ever need (well, Oreo won't be there, so close to all tools) and I know stuff. |

Wrench Teachers? If you're going to wrench your own bike, best tool recommendation I can make is get a decent torque wrench. You don't want to go around over or under tightening bolts. |

Wrench Teachers? If you want a good beginning kind of book, theres a book at Barnes And Noble called like 101 Sportbike Performance Projects. I bought it before I started doing work on my bike and its come in quite handy. Its got some complicated things, but also covers some basics. You might have some questions after you read the article, but for the most part it gives you a good idea where to start. Barnes&Noble.com - Books: 101 Sportbike Performance Projects (Motorbooks Workshop Series), by Evans Brasfield, Paperback Thats the book |

As for getting the right tools etc, I learned the hard way over time to plan a couple extra hours for any job (ie time to go get the right tools). Especially first starting out, you'll find yourself halfway through getting something apart and realize you need something you don't have to get all the way there. Don;t mickey mouse unless you absolutely have to. Stop, go out get the right tool for it, and save yourself a lot of pain and frustration. ![]() |

Samething you should... Go to bike night.. Hey Jim, I'll help you out.. Nice thing about Jap bikes is all you need is a 10, 12, 14 mm wrench/sockets, and a screw driver, and you can almost take apart the whole bike.. |
