Real Fast HelpHi, I just took my track bike out of moth balls. 14 months and stablized gas. It turns over and catches and idles, it responds to idle adjust. But any kind of throttle or moving the choke kills it. I have a track day Monday and really don't want to burn the $250. It's a 2000 F4 any ideas? Thanks, Paul |

Real Fast HelpDrain the gas out of the tank and replace it with fresh - you said it has stabil in it - but it might be shot anyway from condensation in the tank. Make sure the exhaust and air box are clear - no water build up, or critter nests. After that - let it warm up fully without touching the throttle. Good luck... |

Real Fast HelpThanks, I was hoping I wouldn't have to drain it. I'll check and see if any body made a house in the air filter, it's happened before. Man I was really hoping this would just work. What would happen if I put in too much stablizer? Last edited by ultraTwist : 09-29-07 at 12:35 PM. |

Real Fast HelpTank drained, all new gas, fully warmed up same thing. Airbox clear. WTF. How does the choke work on these things. Does it just add more gas? Looking down the throttle bodies there's this extra plate on top of the butterflies. Does that only open at high rpm on a servo? |

Real Fast HelpI got the thing to run in high rpm, once up there it's running fine. Those sliders do open and close based on rpm or air flow. Once the rpms are up I can move the choke without killing it. However, it will not run with out choke input at idle and the idle is bad. It's very hard to get it rev'd without killing it. |

Real Fast HelpDid you put new spark plugs in? |

Real Fast HelpNo not yet. I called my mechanic friend and he says it sounds like the pilot jets are clogged. He said they had a lot of that this year because of the ethenol. He said they are the first thing to clog with varnish becasue they are so small and they operate at 1/8 or less throttle and "choke", which is where I'm having issues. Right now I'm trying to free them up with fuel injector cleaner, if not I'm going to have to rip the carbs out and try and clean them. At this point I do not have acces to new plugs anyway. I'll see how it goes. Thanks. |

Real Fast HelpIf you can't get it going, I may be up for buying the spot from you. It's a Seacoast day, correct? Good luck either way. |

Real Fast HelpYes it's a Seacoast Day. If they are sold out you can have the spot because I doubt that the bike will be safe by tomorrow. |

Real Fast HelpHave you tried draining the bowls to see what happens? |

Real Fast HelpJust pull the carbs and clean the pilots. That's the only fix for this problem. Use small wire or dental floss to ream them out. Spray cleaner doesn't quite do it sometimes. Easy fix. Hardest part is getting access to the carbs. |

Real Fast Helpyup pilots...pull the a/f mixture screws too when you clean. very small holes..check airjets while you are at it..they sometimes gunk up. |

Real Fast Helpi like to drain the bowls and then will them with carb cleaner a few times (since carb cleaner evaps pretty quick.). i usually do this first to see if it can be fixed without dropping the carbs. half the the time it works all the time. |

Real Fast HelpWunna your spark plug wires is deteriorated or chewed through. Critters like using the insulation in their nests. You're dropping a cylinder... |
