Opinions wanted .... please.........

Newbie here to the board. Curious on everyones take on tires for here in Northern New England. I'm riding a Trophy 1200. I just got the bike haven't had time to log many miles on it. I'm thinking a set of Avon Azaro-ST's or possibly a set of Conti-Force's. Most miles commuting and weekend rides w/ a passenger.
Thanks for your thoughts and ideas!

I bought a set of Diablo Stradas and liked so much that I'm going in for a 2nd set.

IMO, it's all about personal preference.

Anyways, welcome to the asylum

+1

I'm running Pirelli Strada's as well.
They're a great all around tire.

I ride Avon viper ss, if all of avon's product line is anything like that tire then I'd say go for it. My bike eats tires and the avon has great performance for the buck.

The Force is an OK tire, but if you want to ride Conti try the Road Attack. Just an awesome set of rubber.

Kiss them goodbye in less than 3K miles. I ran a few sets of the original Corsas on my 12R and the rear was good for about 2500 miles.

I saw the same thing with the Metzeler M-1

I really liked the grip but the return on mileage sucked to say the least.

+1 for the Michelin Macadams.
I run those on my Ninja and they wear very well.

Welcome to the "hip" forum.

I never cared for the Azaros. For me, they would cup badly and howl like mad while leaned over in corners. Reminded me of the old Dunlop D205s

Azaros were the first tire that I has luck with for not scalloping, you have to run Avon's recomended pressure, not the manufacturer's

the VBD carcass requires higher pressure

Re: Opinions wanted .... please.........

I run Pirelli Diablo in front & a Diablo Strada on the rear. That way the front gives great traction for braking. That way they wear out at the same time so when you change them you don't feel like you're waisting money throwing away a good front.
I have an Aprilia Tuono.

Re: Opinions wanted .... please.........

First off , Thanks to all the great replies here! Amazingly there weren't any "I'm smarter than you" replies! This has got to be one of the best informational forums online!!! My hats off to all here!

Well with tire prices rediculously escalating...... I bought another set of ContiForce's. Whats with the local dealers Not wanting to mount tires that they don't sell? They said liability. What , One would think that unless the damage / problem is from an installation / balance mistake the tire manafacturer would be liable. Anyway , sorry to vent. Not a big deal I'll mount them myself. And , and ....I am going to try the balance beads. I have used them with great sucess on car tires and even BIG offroad tires with great results. So I'll give it a whirl.

Again Thanks to all !!

For a long-mileage sport tire I'd say the Metzler Z6 would have to be my choice. Good set of rubber with a long life expectancy

Re: Opinions wanted .... please.........

Believe me, I have tried nearly every brand you can imagine...74000 miles on an ST2 and 10k on my Multistrada. I get about 5k on any tire I have put on and I have never exceeded the performance envelope on the street. So, my conclusion, is buy the least expensive name brand that's available.

And yes, some dealers won't mount tires they don't sell...others will but you may as well have bought the tires from them by the time the charge what they charge. Its understandable...they are in business to make money!

Good luck!!!
