less/no resistance for the crank to spin allows crank to spin faster increasing rpm for a short period of time

Re: sv650 weird noises

I was right woohoo!

Dont you have a 700 kit on the bike (I heard that an SV with a 700 kit blew up at vir so thats why I ask)? When you did the kit did you do anything at all to the lower end? My guess is no from the outcome. These are bored our 400 CC motors (which I am sure you know) so anymore pressure on the crank and its goes BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!

I am sure you are saying to yourself yes I know this dumbass but it makes my internet penis feel bigger when I tell people stuff they already know haha.

Actually, it was just a stock sv650 motor-no 700 kit, + I did not know that it was a bored out 400. In fact, I don't know much about the sv's, only that I need a motor + a shock

Well if insurance moves quickly (which it may or may not) I may have a motor for you.

Yeah the SV is in fact a bored out 400 CC motor and they didnt upgrade the low end when they did it so its already being strained.

I just changed the oil + filter + took the bike to VIR.
it ran very good for 2 days straight but for my last session of the 2nd day, it got really fast for a few laps + then on the straight away started making all kinds of loud knocks, pings,+ clanking noises, so I shut er down + coasted to a stop off track.
I can start it now, but it sounds like a cement mixer.
anybody have any ideas as to what might be wrong with it--I can't afford to take it to the shop for diag!!
will changing the oil again with a heavier grade maybe help?

Its your muffler bearings. They came loose & are clogging up the exhaust. Change your muffler bearings!

If your bike is totalled, swap the engine with a bad one and then let the insurance company have the bike. This way, you won't have to buy it back to sell the engine.
