Need Some HelpSo, I was just on my bike, heading home from work and something funny started happening. While cruising at about 75 (6K RPM) I let off the throttle completely and i started to feel something slip...or not catch. I did it several times to make sure it wasn't just something in the road etc. Same thing. At lower speeds it is not as noticeable. I am thinking it is just a loose chain? The last time I had it tightened was about 6k ago. I do not lube/wax my chain as much as I should ![]() Bike has about 17K on the clock...2006 GSX-R 600 I would really appreciate some responses/ideas/suggestions guys. Thank you in advance |

Re: Need Some Help#1 - I know the 06 750 has a slipper clutch but I'm not sure about the 600. That means it's supposed to slip if you dump the throttle. #2 - 17K miles and poor chain maintenance could mean a stretched chain or worn sprocket. Put it up on a rear stand and inspect the sprocket. You can also spin the wheel by hand and see if the chain rides up on the sprocket at any point. |

Re: Need Some HelpQuote:
I did inspect the sprocket to see if any of the teeth were "shark finned" but they seem to look good. The chain however does seem to be sagging a little bit. If the chain is stretched, is tightening possible or at 17k maybe a new one would be the best solution ![]() ZX-12R - Bill It does not slip at all when accelerating |
