Tire Help Please

I have a 2003 Kawasaki that I've been running Michelin PP's on. Although they are a nice sticky tire, most of my riding does not require that much stick. I am looking for a comparable tire, maybe a little harder that I can get more mileage out of. But I don't want to go to a full street tire, I do like the stick. Any suggestions?

nix the PP 2ct's... they're even softer on the edges than the PP's.

I dont have any experience with them, but I've always seen the Pilot Road 2's, Continental Road Attacks and Pirelli Diablo stradas come up in these sorts of threads, among others.

Basically what you're looking for is something black, round & cheap that'll last long. & that gives you plenty of options

Re: Tire Help Please

Stradas, FTW!

americanmototire.com has never let me down.

Seems some of the dealers are pushing Shinko tires as of late.....I keep hearing that name brought up in various conversations.

Not sure about those just yet but I might have to burn a pair just to see what short money gets nowadays.

To my understanding, Shinko offers 3 compounds for each model of tires it makes. My understanding on this, however, could be way off.

Re: Tire Help Please

The Pirelli Corsa III's are the tire we're recommending for street riders, that might also want to do a track day.

About $285 per set for 120/180 sizes.

I have a Ducati and a Kawasaki, but right now only the Kawasaki needs
new rubber.

I have the Diablo Stradas, switched over from Dunlop Qualifiers and like them much better. They seem to warm up a lot faster than the Dunlops also.

I think some are missing the piont here, I believe she is looking for something she can get max miles out of, because she is just riding around nice nad easy has no desire to drag her knee.. so I believe she wants a commuter type tire..

O.K. Front tire failed inspection today, I'm not just looking for a street tire.
I'm looking for something a little (emphasis) harder than the PP2's. That's what I've been running, but the
mileage sucks. I am taking a track in July so I still want some stick.

Help?

Re: Tire Help Please

ive got the PP2CTs on my 1K and they seem to be holding up OK.
dunlops will be great this summer but once the temp cools they dont like cold asphault and will give you a slide or 2 in the AM.
ive done a trackday,burnouts,dragstrip(13 passes),wheelies, and 3000K+ miles. so far so good on the PP2CTs. at the very least get one for the back and a regular PP for the front.
im sorry i dont more about "touring" tires.

I couldn't keep up to a nut on a BMW K1200R. He had a 2ct up front and a road 2 in the back. He loved the milage. I also could not stay with him in the rain. I was doing 90.... he was gone

Re: Tire Help Please

until this past tuesday i was running on the Pirelli Diablo Stradas before i switched over to the pilot powers.... so i'm doing the opposite transition. knowing that, you'll love them. i loved them... they make a fine street / touring tire. i had them over a year, through two track days, over 7K miles and there's a ridiculous amount of tread still on them. they stick rather well (many riders were shocked that in some of the ridiculous lean angles in the bowl when cutting too early & then just to see that i was running on stradas.)
