starting issues.../ rewound stator on a motard

starting issues.../ rewound stator on a motard

Maybe a little help here is needed
Put the XR away last year. And took the startor off to rewind it( to get more light / out put)
Went to put it back on and then start the bike up
Bike would not turn over?
No spark etc.
Ideas of where I should start trouble shooting?
I was going to first check to see if I get spark, could be as simple as needing a new spark plug?
Then clean the carbs…
Then..??.....
Could when I rewound the stator that I didn’t ground it properly and its not allowing it to start?

Bike is a 2000 xr650r SM
