What are these deposits on my intake valves?While I had the TBs off I noticed these deposits on my intake valves. They looked like a grey/off-white sand (almost like salt crystals). Deposits were only significant on this 1 cylinder, especially on the middle valve right next to where the valve seats. What kind of deposit is this? Abnormal and/or a result of a condition which I should look at fixing? Worth putting some valve deposit cleaner thru a tank of gas? Bike is an '06 FZ1, 5k miles. Pic sucks, I know. ![]() ![]() |

Re: What are these deposits on my intake valves?Those are probably octane booster residue. Run a tank of Techron treated fuel through it and they will go away, for awhile. If you can run lower octane fuel without issues, that will help prevent them from forming. |
