battery question

SO i believe I need a battery for the 12r. One problem is starting sometimes sounds like it takes a few more clicks then it use to, second-the lights seem to dim and brighten given the rpm of the motor even when I upshift I notice the headlight dim then brighten, and third -stalling also seems to be occuring when it shouldn't, and no it's not me! Where do you guys get batteries? I was thinking pepboys or walmart.

Re: battery question

First, do a load test on your battery, then check your grounds. Rule them out first before throwing $80 at it. I found that there is no real money savings by buying a battery at walmart. Try your local dealer, or maybe interstate battery.

Re: battery question

also check charging output to rule out a stator or rectifier issue.

Re: battery question

Are you still on your original battery? If so, at 8 years you've already greatly exceeded the life expectancy of it.

Re: battery question

+1 on stator and regulator/rectifier.
a buddy just had them go on his R6 and it was basically the same syptoms that your mentioning. Problem is, there isnt any way to really test a rectifier. You can do an Ohm and resistance test, but its not that conclusive. Also, after the problem happens, touch your rectifier and see if its hot... if so, its overloading and most likely causing your problems
