Break-inI thought I'd bring up the old break-in argument again. Only this time I come armed with info! In the past I've always preached about the benefits of a "hard" break in, typically lasting about 150 miles. My opinion was formed after reading various articles by Kevin Cameron and Nick Ienatsch (quoting Rob Muzzy), as well as personal experience. I felt compelled to pass this info on in hopes that people wouldn't blindly follow the owners manual, which I believe is a cover-your-ass cop-out on the manufacturers part. So here, finally, is someone that has written what I consider a concise yet definitive explanation (with pictures!) of proper break in procedures. Let the arguments begin! ![]() http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm Paul |

Break-inI don't totally agree with the break-in advice you referenced, while I dom't think there is much wrong with the advice, it is my understanding that the purpose of break-in is heating/cooling cycles and surface hardening of the metals and the complete cooling between sessions should be stressed [Edited on 9/24/01 by RandyO] |

Break-inI dunno....the pictures show the proof, and what he said does make sense. I'm going to beat the snot out of the first brand new bike I get, and see how it works! Actually, I may be trying that out on a new TL motor before I get a new bike...cuz I don't ever want to get rid of the TL! ![]() |
