My buddy just got a '98 gsxr 750. After riding it for a while it has started acting up. At about 9,000 rpm the something abruptly lets go, and the bike stops driving. It keeps reving, but no power to the wheel. Is it a bad clutch??
Also any one have any suggestions for suspension. He is about 205 and 5'11". Thanks

I'm no expert, I think you need TLRman Mark. I'd say if your in gear at 9,000 and not holding the clutch in, then it's not your clutch.
Maybe a shifter fork? You should also check the reverse threaded nut that in in the middle holding the clutch assembly together, they don't locktite all of them at factory and they back themselves out. This also scores the inside of your caseing.

I rode it earlier today, and it does it in all gears. It only has 9k on it. Seems kinda early for a clutch to let go to me. Dealer told him that the clutch can't handle to power when it hits the power band. But there are not other symptoms anywhere else in the rev range.

Sounds Like a slippin' clutch to me!

Get new steels and friction plates, replace springs with barnett spring kit. Check bolts that hold the pressure plate and springs in, and make sure they aren't bent either.....If they are, replace them too! Inspect clutch basket for deep grooves worn into the fingers, this can mess up proper clutch actuation too.
