Master link....

Question.....

Just went down on the front sprocket and picked up a DID x link chain. It came with a press on master link and clip. Going through my honda service manual there was a statment about not using a "clip" style master link. Go with a riveted style. The chain is a 525. Has anyone else had problem with this type o master link? Or should I order a rivet style one.....

thanks

I have a clip style on mine and have had no problems yet. I've seen high speeds and alot of hard acceleration. Probably have somewhere around 6-8000 miles on it. DID GOLD X-RING Chain.

Me too! I have an RK w/ the clip. This is my 2nd chain with the clip and I've had no problems. I don't travel high speed but I stunt ride and I snap the clutch probably 500 times per session

I don't see a problem with the clip but make sure it's facing in the right direction. If it was that faulty, then they wouldn't use it or include it in the package.

My $.02

If you're concerned about the clip types, secure it with a bit of safety wire. Or even put a little dollup of RTV on it...

how do you safety wire a chain?
i am not concerned about it right now, i am just gonna use the clip but thats sounds like a curious thought... how does the wire go around with getting cut by the sprockets or something when the chain is moving?

Plenty of peeps do it. I don't personally, I use the RTV. I've seen both pass tech inspections without a second thought...
