Compression tester

I need to borrow a compression tester to fit my Concours engine. My compression tester only fits 14mm and 18mm spark plug holes. My conk has 12mm holes (I think). I was unable to find one in several stores that I visited, though I found several that are just like the one I have. I am hoping someone on this forum can lend me the tool for a day.

Mine came with quite the slew of adapters, let me check to see if it has 12mm.

It fit my ZX6...

I'm sure it'll fit my conk if it fits your ZX6 and has a slew of adaptors. I'd be most appreciative if I could borrow it.

My Conk is very ill and it's not the carbs or ignition system (replaced every part in both the fuel and the ignition systems (from my parts bike) and it still runs terribly. I'm thinking it has a stuck valve or a big failure in the head gasket between cylinders 2-3. I have a spare engine so fixing it will be cheap as hell and somewhat easy but I wanted to check for low compression before doing an engine swap.

Yep, 10 12 14 and 18(mm). Should fit. You're more than welcome to borrow it of course.

Wonderful. Any chance I could get it from you at lunch today? I'll buy you a meal.

Sure, you can pick it up at lunch if we can find somewhere to meet. I'm actually up in Derry right now, I was feeling a bit under the weather this morning and I had some errands to do, so I took the day off. Feeling better now, don't think it's contagious/fatal .

Anyway, this works out well as the compression meter is here with me. Just let me know where/when you'd like to meet, maybe I'll take the bike, looks to be a nice day...

Compression tester

So, I finally used the compression tester. 155 in #1, 120 in #2, 0 in #3, and 155 in #4.

Not good. Gonna swap the engine with my spare next week.

I'd like to return the tester this week, if possible.

Hehe, looks like you got yourself a triple there, Dave. Electricals are bound to go next, you know, Lucas, prince of darkness...err, anyway, good to see you found the problem, I've got no immediate need for the compression tool but if you're done with it (check the compression in the new engine?) and we can find a time to meet, I'll pick it back up from ya.

I'll try to remember to toss it in my tank bag tonight and we can play it by ear. Perhaps lunch tomorrow?
