Need a Bike Shop I Can Trust.

It's obvious my bike needs a serious tune up, R7 noticed it right off the back, I knew it, but was waiting to get my bike back up to MA before I did anything.

Anywho, I want to get a factory jet kit, have it installed, my carbs synched, and my valve clearances checked.

Anyone know of a place that does really good work?

I'll second the recomendation for Kevin (KMF), he knows his shit
As long as you can deal with all his stories and F... this and F... that and this guys a F... and that guys a F..., you should be all set

All kidding aside, he's your best bet to get your bike tuned up

So, where's Kevin located?
P.S.-never mind...just saw he's from Walpole.

Kev-I may have some work for you...I have a 97 ZX900R Ninja w/Hindle slip-on. Since I dont know you or your work other than what I read here, mind my asking your level of expertise? Are you a MC mechanic by trade? I would appreciate some insight into what work you perform. Thanks in advance.

BTW, anyone seen "Rye" around?

For me the problem is time. I'd rather ride on the weekends than be toiling, and I don't get home from work until around 7PM. But since there's really no one near me...

...I've gone ahead and decided I'm gonna do this stuff myself anyway. I'm going to order a nice carb-synch tool, and start there first. When they're all synched up, and I've checked my valve clearances (ok, so maybe the valve clearances should be first), and everything is working right, then I'll mess with a jet kit!

Aside from swapping the stock can for a D&D no. How much "better" with the emissions crap gone?

I too am looking for a mechanic I can trust. Jet kit/ ignition advance, and even front suspension upgrade planned for mine.
Most shops are hit or miss. First you get an honest mechanic that knows what you want, next is some teenager trying to get your oil drain plug out with vise grips!

KMF. Hope to talk to you at some point
At this point the only people I will let do the thing to my bike that I can't, ie sync carbs, is Green River Power Sports and Valley Motorsports.......All about an hour and a half from my house. Even there is hit or miss (as I was helping one of their mechanics with mounting new tires on my bike!)
I have my own tools and generally mechanically inclined, but I rather not go in blindly and inexperienced for jet kit installation which I want to do ASAP.

Most definitely!

Maybe the emissions bs is responsible for my little idle problem...

Thanks for the link, I'm gonna give it a read when I have some more time, I want to THOROUGHLY understand it.

Yeah, we'll pull that restrictive metal screen off your airfilter too...THAT effects the idle as well

No shit??????

See, I've been having this weird idle problem... about 35% of the time, if I'm simply riding around RPM's at a coupla grand or so, and I pull in the clutch and simply let off the throttle completely, the needle will go right down, kinda hesitate for a brief second at the idle mark, then continue onto 0, and shut down. Not a huge deal, but kind of annoying.... It's like it really wants to idle, but dies... I'm thinking it might be a weird vacuum issue, but I haven't sat down and figured it out... Maybe getting rid of that metal screen might help?
