Admin - Is there a way to add an option for a text-only view? Would help while at work.

I'm thinking something very similar to the "print" page view. Embedded pictures just show up as links, etc...

Right now I just turn images on/off in my CP if I'm at work. But it would be sweet to loose the banner and graphics. Not sure if you can do anything about the ads tho (obv. need revenue to support site).

It would also be nice to be able to more easily set a single switch that would turn a whole number of options on/off w/ 1 click w/o having to go into the CP.

Just some thoughts.

I don't know of any way to do that with the current setup, but I'll keep my eye out.

I remembered a way to do it, using the Archive function of vBulletin. I just have to enable it so that it's only available to registered members (having that on for guests causes duplicate content penalties with search engines). I'll have that worked out this weekend, and I'll follow up on this thread when it's ready.

This is the best I can do for now, using the default functionality of the forum. Click the "archive" link at the bottom of the screen, or go to http://www.nestreetriders.com/forum/archive/ It's a read-only system, so you can't post, and you can only see content from within the forum (no classifieds, gallery, arcade, etc). If all you're doing is browsing, it's a good way to have the text-only view you're after.

I checked it out and it doesn't seem to work right tho.

The URL you posted shows all the forum folders/subfolders (or whatever the right name for it is).

However, when I click on a subfolder (like "General Bike Related"), the page just stays the same. The URL will change to look like this: http://www.nestreetriders.com/forum/archive/f-4.html. But nothing happens. Clicking on other folders yeilds same result (URL will change to "F-#", but thats about it. Tried using IE incase it was a FF issue...same deal tho.

Sounds kinda like what I was talking about...just too bad you can't post. Do you know if it has search capability too? Or does it just display all threads as text links w/ no other capabilities at all? Actually...don't answer. I'll just look for myself if you're able to fix it.

I'll look into why that's not working. It's supposed to be a text archive of the whole forum.
