Subdivisions of Ride/Events Thread

Was thinking with all the new members this year (including me) and especially the rise of a good group of VT Riders, that it might be worth dividing the Rides/Events Thread into groups according to States. Since the Majority of active users are from VT, MASS, NH, and CT that could be a good start, along with a general post for larger New England rides or other events-no offense to Maine, RI, and NY...

Just a request for the managment...get 'r done!

or how about Off-Topic Events for events such as drunk-a-thons, bar crawls, etc that are events but not really motorcycle related

Re: Subdivisions of Ride/Events Thread

Individual areas for each state: I personally am not a fan of adding 6 more sub-areas. We try to keep the index page as clean and uncluttered as possible. We will however, discuss it amongst mods/admins and see where it goes...

Drunkathons, bar crawls, etc.: NESR in NO way sponsors, condones, or encourages as an entity such activities...

I personally do not think that 6 sub-threads are needed. Most of the rides posted are for VT, Mass, CT, and NH. So using the "life is not fair" quote, Maine and RI are going to have to get over it...4 sub threads, and one master thread for rides and events would actually help to tidy things up a bit, and make it easier for riders in the individual States to locate and post information.
Ill even make a poll...

Create a poll if you want. But it'll have very little to do with our decision. We've got our own little poll going and only 4 of us will have a say in this one...

Re: Subdivisions of Ride/Events Thread

Why not just prefix the thread titles with CT, MA, VT, etc...to make it clear where the ride is? That'd take care of the issue at hand without leading the rides & events forum down the road to disjointation.

Yes, disjointation.

Coming from me, perhaps. But as far as NESR is concerned, we don't take any part of such activities. You should know that, officer...

Re: Subdivisions of Ride/Events Thread

More sub-forums are not needed. The rides worth going on are the ones that go NH-ME-NH-VT-NY-VT-NY-MA-VT-MA-NH which pretty much covers the states worth riding in. I would be confused trying to figure out what forum to look in to find a ride like that.

New england is so small..... everywhere is within a days ride

lessee, I live in NH, but when I post a thread for a group ride to Vt, which forum do I use, Wait, the ride is going to all 6 states, should I multipost in all the subforums ?

there are already have more forums than we need. don't make it more complicated than it needs to be

Re: Subdivisions of Ride/Events Thread

I think the separation of the states would be a bad move...

Separating RIDES from SOCIAL events would be MUCH better & I think would improve forum organization.

I agree...open discussion brings out good things...I see ya'lls point on the subdivision, and agree that its not confusing now, so what's the fuss...however, rides and events/social gathers as seperate entities?...maybe Oreo is on to something?

That may not be such a bad idea. To separate rides & events into 2 different areas, that is...
