plus I associate smoking with too many other things I like, like good beer, good wine, good coffee, etc, etc.

I quit all the time. I guess there's really know way to understand the addiction unless you've had it or have it. I hate smoking, everything about it, yet I'm still compelled to do it. I've tried just about everything to quit, nothing seems to work. Oh well, I'll keep trying though.

i don't think a motorcycle is a fair comparison, 'cause you can more or less control your ride, and when you put your bike away, there are no real lingering physical problems, whereas smoking has been proven to increase/cause a looooong list of ailments....

aren't there any non-nicotine cigs out there for those that just like to smoke to smoke?

Funny it should come up, I just quit (yet again) on Monday. This board is the only thing keeping me sane right now!!!!

Cold turkey this time, because I'm starting the jym again on Monday and want to be able to take the nitric oxide stimulators.

All this so I can build up the leg muscles and be better prepared to race next season....

in most cases your right
but you have no control on the other guy
& some smoke all there lives with no ill afect
^^ most not but some ^^
& some die younger that never smoked lung & hart related
i know you can say they would have lived longer

Actually, more of the first, didn't really think too much into it, plus, it was kind of dead in here this morning, also, I saw bemused smoking once, and couldn't help but wonder why a legitimately smart person would smoke?
