Well, see that's the point I'm sort of getting at... What REALLY makes one a "native"? IMO, the ONLY "natives" are the "Native Americans", everyone else migrated here from different parts of the world. I'm willing to bet that only a small fraction of the total population can claim more than maybe 1 or 2 generations on what is now known as US soil....

Your logic is wrong, the United States ofAmerica is not the north american continent, the country wasnt' even formed until the late 18th century. Certainly anybody here before the country was formed is native. using you logic,there are no natives as far as we know, even your "Native Americans" ancestors came from asia via the land bridge some 10,000 odd years ago.

I believe that Thomas Jefferson and his associates were ahead of their time, or were given somekind of supernatural gift.

We have plenty of competent people capable of running this country without looking for more.

The ONLY "Native Americans" are those generally considered to be the 'Indians' who were here for thousands of generations. White man only showed up mostly from Europe, and other parts of the world, post-Columbus (and sure, if you want to be technical, probably some Vikings showed up earlier). You yourself can only trace back 3 centuries, you aren't a "Native American", you're a transplanted 'Native European' as most of us are.

'Americans' yes, that is what we are, "Native Americans", nope. We're simply invaders that damn near drove an entire race into extinction.

And I also disagree with Sevens. Although technically you're 'American' if you're born here, but only by technicality. In my line of work, I come across families who come to the US to have kids for tax/trust structure purposes, and several months to a few years after their child is born, they're back to their homeland. Does that REALLY make their child 'American'? Only on paper...

My husband is indian...and my daughter too, last of 5 generations. My mother in law explained to me that the blood run in their veins for 5 generations. They come from the Huron tribe. THey all have blue eyes and darker skin. The more you go back (mom, grand-ma, great grand-ma) the darker the skin is, and the more blue their eyes are. I think it's great. Unfortunatly, my husband grand-ma denied her origins. Because of apparently it was hard for them to be accepted in society. I think it's a shame...gee we could be living on a tribe land and pay no fookin taxes right now!
