If a nuclear bomb explode in say, Boston or New York....how many miles of damage around the city can it do? I'd like to know if we're far enough from those cities....

US cannot be the all mighty forever...I always thought some day, someone will have the means to destroy this image United States so proudly give itself...

What is a "sleeper agent"? And one of the part that pissed me off, is when they say they will attack schools....fuckers. DOn't touch my children.

Are you serious? This countrys 'pride' and superiority complex is going to be the death of it. At the rate we're going it won't be around in 50 years. Eight years ago I would have told you it wouldn't be around in 100.

Yes but unlike all those *other* failed empires, we finally possess the kind of firepower required to take the whole world down with us when we go. And, apparently, a growing number of people who feel that nuking the world into oblivion is preferrable to our eventual decline as a civilization.

Eventually meaning...yeah 50-100 years sounds right, hell we've only been a superpower for the last 75 years or so and look where we are on the Empire-O-Meter...We don't have the staying power of any Holy Roman Empire that's for sure but we can make up for that with a really impressive fireworks display at the end.

Now all we need is a nice jingoistic slogan. "I'd rather be dead than Muhammed" has a nice ring to it, I think.

I have to agree with that... I am so sick of hearing "we are the most powerful, we are the best, we are superior to anyone else on this planet"...doesn't it sound REALLY self-centered and cocky? Gee, get over it already. Not everyone think that way. There is a lot of other great places to be on this planet. And remember the saying "every good thing has an end..." well that also goes for the good ole USA...it's just a matter of kowing WHEN the end will come. Might be hundreds of years...might be sooner.

I really have a hard time with the defeatist attitude of some of you guys. What is wrong with having pride in your country? I like to visit other countries and I think they all have plenty to offer, but the fact is that we are the greatest nation in the world. Why else do you guys think everyone wants to come here? Why else do you think the "have-nots" want to destroy us? We have what everyone else wants; freedom and prosperity. Maybe you guys should count your blessings and consider how good you really have it here compared to ANY other place in the world. I don't want to start a flame war, but just think about it.....

I do have plenty of pride, and I am very thankfull for what this country has to offer. I will not however say that it is the greatest nation. Just because something is different does not mean it's better or worse, just different. I've been to other counties as well, and many have much to offer, and lifestyles that many would prefer to that of the common life style here. Why do so many people come here? Well, plenty of people come here to exploit the opportunities, and take advantage of the libral policies. I can't tell you how many italians and greeks I know, all 1st, 2nd and even 3rd generation, that have succsessful businesses here, and make great money, yet all still own land in their home country that they can go back to with their gold. Yes it's a great country, but yes, it also has it's problems, and the 'better than you' and 'do what I tell you' attitudes that sprout from kinds of oblivious pride without thoughts or considerations is where the problems stem. Not to mention, our freedoms are becoming less and less by the day.

It's not my fault they were stupid enough to get born in Mexico, I worked my ass off to get born into a country full of wealth and prosperity and I'm not about to give that up so some damn spick can indulge himself in luxuries like food and health care!

Don't forget work at our Taco Bells! I enjoy having my foreign cuisine prepared and served by a person of proper ethnic origin. Every time I eat in a chinese restaurant run by a family of Chinese people, or relatively similar looking east asian equivalent, I smile because I know that I will be dining on egg rolls and fortune cookies prepared exactly as they would be back in the "old country".

exactly, well said. There is NOTHING wrong about having pride in your country...but why put it in BIG LETTERS in the face of everyone else on this earth ? One country saying they are better than another is as wrong as one individual saying "I'm better than everyone else" In both cases, they are wrong. Being different doesn't make you "better" than someone else. For your info, NOT everyone want to come live in the US, so I realy dislike hearing "oh EVERYONE want to come live in the US!!". I for one came here for one reason only, my husband. He work here, and construction don't pay shit up there in Quebec, the money and the jobs are here. So we stay because of that. Not because of the "freedom" or other reasons like that. If he was to move away in another nice country, I'd follow him and leave the US with no problem. What is it you call freedom anyway over here? You turn on your TV, and all you see is censure, those black stripes over boobies and butts, heck I can sit at dinner time over in Quebec and turn channel and see a pair of boobies. You go to Montreal, you have peeps shows, private dances at $10 WITH contact, prostitutes on the streets (not that I agree with that last one), and so on...the place feels lot more "free". Night Clubs open til 3a.m. you are considered an adult in all senses of the word at 18 yrs old, etc. Quebec has a lifestyle more like some certain region in Europe, like France, where it is much more open minded. And how about those people over here that give you the dirty look if you don't go to church on Sundays? I don't even count anymore the number of times I've been looked at weird because I don't practice religion. This whole thing about USA and God...give me a fuckin break. I believe in God, doesn't mean I have to go pray "in group" to show him my faith!! You won't see me get down on my knees to pray, and I don't care if they don't pray in schools either. Let every one be FREE to pray for who ever they want, and don't impose it on the kids in class that might not be Catholics and believe in a different God than ours. Praying is a PERSONNAL thing for many.

To finish my rant. Yes I am from Canada. And this has NOTHING to do with all I just said. Because I won't tell you that my country is better than yours. It is not. It's different, that is all. I don't love Canada more than I love USA, and vice versa. I have never seen anything else than just a few hundreds miles of land on this earth, and I wish someday I could see more, because I'm sure there is plenty of places that I could say "this is so much nicer than USA and Canada, and I don't want to leave..."

It doesn't matter, really. You are entitled to your own opinion, and me, to mine. But people should stop wondering why some other nations get so pissed at the US. It's like rich people with loads of money and power, at some point, it most likely get to their head and they might loose the respect of others. The way I see it, power and money got this country to act the same way.
